In the womb, Vpril would hear classical music that his father would play. As a toddler, he was immersed in the Gap Band, Michael Jackson, & other soul acts. As he got a little bit older (5-7), his uncle would introduce him to Young Money acts like Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, & Drake, while his father simultaneously introduced him to NWA, Biggie, & other acts of the Hip-Hop Golden Age.

At 8 years old, Vpril knew music was his calling and began working on his craft immediately: Freestyling, songwriting,& performing in front of audiences (his family & friends). He developed these skills over his life and would even go on to pick up the trumpet at 10 years old, and eventually would go on to learn music theory, jazz improvisation, composition, & ear training; turning him from a child prodigy to a trained musician.

While falling in love with music, film was a love he had, forgot, and then remembered. As young as 7, he would animate movies he came up with on his DSi XL, draw up movie posters for ideas he had, and make short films with his friends at his summer camp. However, music took over his life, until he was around 16-17 and his love for filmmaking was reignited during COVID, after spending a lot of time watching movies, looking for more ways to be inspired. Since then, Vpril has been adamant on world-building and blending his two crafts through sonically immersive experiences, prioritizing narrative, & his bold expressionist approach seen throughout his work.
